Frankrike - Sabre d'officier de cavalerie légère modèle an IX, an XI - Svärd
Officer’s sword of the light cavalry, model from the year IX
Total length: 102 cm, blade: 87 cm, arrow: 5.4 cm, width at the heel: 3 cm
Sabre used by hunters on horseback, hussars, lancers, and light artillery.
Later production (thinner blade than the first model), from the restoration, around 1820.
Grip covered with sheepskin, with filigree.
Brass mount. Buttcap with long tail.
Hand-guard known as the hunter, with three branches.
Two shuttle-shaped appendages. Curved hilt.
Double-edged engraved blade with baton back.
Iron scabbard with two brass rings.
There is some looseness in the hand-guard or the grip.
A fairly tarnished blade, with remnants of gilding.
