Hubert Bequet - Öring - Livsaktigt - Lergods
Marvellous and true to life figurine made of pottery of a trout by H. Bequet.
It seems the trout just jumped from the water. Take note of the rainbow colours and the high gloss glaze.
Hubert Bequet started the ‘Hubert Bequet Faïence Factory’ in 1934 in the village Quaregnon in Belgian Wallonia. It became very successful and had 150 employees in the 1960s and kept being successful in combining mass production and creativity. The faiencerie finally closes its door in 1984 after having been taken over in 1978.
Hubert Bequet kept making pottery in a small workshop named ‘La Faïencerie du Borinage’ until 1985. He likely used the same moulds, though without the use of the ‘H. Bequet Faience Factory’ stamp. This sculpture is likely to have been made in that period.
