Beautiful vase by manufacturer M.a.s. Albisola, wonderful cobalt blue with gold decoration. Thanks to the financing of lawyer-patron Albarello of Genoa, the ceramic factory ‘M.A.S.’ (Maioliche Artistiche Savonesi) was founded by Ivos Pacetti and Dario Ravano in 1920 in Via Colombo in Albisola Capo, specialising in the production of majolica in traditional Ligurian style. Artistic direction of the factory is by Dario Ravano, who used the services of very young painter Ivos Pacetti, technician-decorator Roggiapani, and lathe turners Adolfo Rossello and Terlizzi. Among the factory’s collaborators is the lathe turner and moulder Paolo Saltarelli. In 1922, the factory participated in the exhibition of Diano Marina, earning a Gold Medal. In the same year, some works with brand ‘M.A.S.’ (sometimes written with Gothic characters) are on display in the Savona Fair and in the Mostra della Promotrice di Belle Arti in Genoa, with a personal exhibition of painter-decorator Cornelio Gerenzani. In 1922, the factory went out of business, and Dario Ravano and his collaborators, under the guidance of Manlio Trucco, were called to participate in the creation of the ceramic factory ‘La Casa dell'Arte’, owned by Giuseppe Agnino and brothers Giulio and Angelo Barile.
