A wonderful clear glass elephant by Lucienne Bloch in good vintage condition. These are usually frosted though there are some clear one such as this one. Dimensions: 6 x 6 x 2.3 cm. Take note: The marble pedestal is not included in the lot and was only used for styling. Background information: Lucienne Bloch (1909-1999) was a Swiss born American artist. She was particularly renowned for her wall paintings and for her association with Mexican artist Diego Rivera, for whom she made the only existing photos of his wall painting 'Man at the Crossroads', painted in 1933 and destroyed in January 1934 at Rockefeller Center in New York City. In 1929 she pioneered with the design of glass sculptures for Royal Leerdam Crystal Glass Factory in The Netherlands. When Frank Lloyd Wright saw her glass work and spoke with her in New York, he invited her to come and teach at the architect school in Taliesin East where she worked with artist and muralist Santiago Martínez Delgado and other professional colleagues in Taliesin.
