Franco Albini - Vittorio Bonacina - Stol - Margherita

The Margherita armchair is part of the permanent collection of the most important and renowned museums dedicated to industrial design, furnishings and modern and contemporary art. At the IX Triennale of Milan, Franco Albini presented a series of furnishing items commissioned by La Rinascente, including two armchairs in malacca and rattan, which became Gala and Margherita respectively. Albini uses a fine engineering tensile structure device to give life back to the original principle, thus being able to make a airy seat shape that is not based on the concept of a structure to upholster, but of making the upholstery itself become the structural system. He won the gold medal of the IX Triennale of Milan. This chair was made and sold by the company "Bonacina" in 1951. Very well preserved, with some signs of age, but it is perfectly solid and functional. Dimensions: 95 x 73 x 85 cm. Insured shipping for €20.00 extra. For shipments outside the EU, a quote will be made once the auction is closed: the cost stated is approximate.
