Riccardo Dalisi - Alessi, Twergi - Kaffekvarn - MC1101

Very rare coffee grinder designed by Riccardo Dalisi for Alessi and made by Twergi in 1990. It is a result of art fused with simplicity in a coffee grinder. Made of Douglas larch wood, Zapon polished brass and coloured plastic. Inside there is a Bisetti iron mechanism. The drawer is made of wood. Marked on the back: Twergi Douglas-Wood Italy, with the manufacturer's graphic symbol. Barely used and with minimal signs of age and wear, the beak of a bird has disappeared, it is delivered with the coffee can (empty). Suitable for collectors or to complement vintage furniture. Definitely a coffee grinder like no other! Measurements: 36 x 13 x 21 cm. Riccardo Dalisi, Italian architect. He teaches classes in architectural planning, industrial design and is director of the Institute of Industrial Design at the University of Naples. Dalisi was one of the founders of the Global Tool group and an experimental craft school (Arti minime). In 1975 he began working as a designer and collaborated with companies such as Baleri and Zanotta. He was awarded the Compasso d'Oro prize in 1981 and has published several books. Twergi, introduced in 1989, was a collection of wooden objects, designed by Alessi's favorite designers (Branzi, Giovannoni, Graves, Venturi, ...) and Sottsass and their young associates from 'Memphis'. Each item was handcrafted by local artisans to strict standards of craftsmanship and materials, resulting in expensive small production runs. In 1998 Twergi ceased to exist as a separate brand and more commercial products were added to the Alessi catalogue.
