This massive, striking teapot has an outsized handle and a long beak spout, characteristic of Wieselthier’s highly individual style. Wieselthier’s VW monogram is etched on the base. Dimensions: Length: 37cm Height: 18cm About Vally Wieselthier Austrian ceramist, Vally Wieselthier (1895-1945) attended the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, studying under Kolo Moser, Josef Hoffmann and Michael Powolny. She became head of the ceramics atelier at the Wiener Werkstätte, specialising in functional pottery with a quirky modern twist. She exhibited at the Paris Exposition des Arts Deco in 1925 and again at the International Exhibition of Ceramic Art in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, where some of her work can still be seen. In 1932, she settled in the USA for good. Designing independently for the Contemporar Group, Sebring Pottery and Cowan Pottery, she exerted a special influence on American ceramics.
