"The photographs consistently keep the viewer at a distance. Hardly any light falls into the dark thicket of the Mossman Gorge in Queensland; the viewer's eye cannot penetrate the darkness. The mountain peak of Lombo do Mouro looks so cool against the white sky that you can't help but shiver. Desert landscapes in Namibia show such razor-sharp hatching and edges that you want to run for cover.
