Circus Maximus (1704) Two depictions of the Circus Maximus in Rome. In the upper half there is a reconstruction of the building condition in antiquity in the form of a bird's eye view of the long side. Inside you can see the racetrack where a chariot race takes place and the monuments on the median. In the lower half is a contemporary view of the ruins of the Circus, used as gardens, with the Palatine Hill in the background, from the cavalier's perspective. At the right edge of this view are the ruins of the Septizonium. On the right below this image is the monogram of the draftsman of the composition Jan Goree (1670-1731)). At the bottom are three ancient coins with two depictions of the Circus and a bust of King Lucius Tarquinius Priscus. Without engraver signature.
