Intec Gaper number 33. See and read the booklet. Collection of 41 gapers, released and made by the company Intec in Veenendaal. Only chemists and pharmacists with sufficient turnover received these unique, hand-painted gapers. Everything is made of ground natural stone, number 41 which is the last one is made of resin. The moulds were eventually destroyed in front of guests at the company’s closing-down party. A gaper served as an advertising sign on the front of the shop for pharmacists to attract new customers. They were attached to the façade from the 17th century. The gaper mouth is not yawning, but the mouth is open in order to take medication. Gapers are real folk art products and are only seen in the Netherlands and Flanders.
