A very rare late Ming period charger, Tianqi or Chongzhen (1620-1640) for the Japanese Market. So called Ko-Sometsuke ware or "Old dyed Blue and White". The charger is decorated with a style which is called Sarasabun in Japanese and depicts a pattern associated with textiles. The backside is marked with a indecipherable 6 character mark. Ko-sometsuke type chargers for the Japanese market are rare, because these where unpractical for tea ceremonies, which use small dishes for food. This charger would probably be displayed as a conversational piece. Dimensions: W31,5 x H5,5 cm Condition: In restored condition, a broken out shard in the rim is restored with Kintsugi gold lacquer. The rim of the charger is heavily fritted (typical of this ware) and has some fritting filled up. Shipping method: The item is securely packed and shipped with insurance without stand.
