Pre-Columbian Taino culture stone amulet originated from the Greater Antilles islands in the Caribbean Sea. Artifact has been made between the X-XV Century. It depicts an beautiful and rare anthropomorphic form of zemi- a deity or ancestral spirit who is housed in a sculpted object. Zemis were believed to possess spiritual and supernatural forces, and were often invoked during rituals and ceremonies. Pendant has a beautiful cream color, intricate carved details of deity with unique geometrically shaped parts. Amulet can be worn, it has a horizontal hole under the head of deity and also vertical hole so it can be suspended in preferred position.

Very good condition - intact, well-preserved
