Kingdom of Macedon Silver Drachm Of Alexander The Great
Circa 336-323 BC
A silver drachm, on its obverse, features Alexander the Great in the guise of Herakles, facing to the right, wearing a lionskin headdress. On the reverse side, the inscription ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ accompanies a representation of Zeus seated on a throne. In this depiction, Zeus holds an eagle in his right hand, while his left hand grasps a sceptre.
Dimensions: 16mm x 16mm; weight 4g
