Robert Denogent LES SARDINES Always in cellar Perfect Label Domaine Robert-Denogent is located on the border of the Macconais area in Burgundy. The winery is the brainchild of Jean Jacques Robert, who, after graduating in law, decided to take over his father's 5 hectares of vines, which until then had only produced grapes for social cooperatives. From then on, he began the project of defending the old vines and the terroir, allowing each label to express the characteristics of the land of origin. As fate would have it, Marcel Lapierre, who was gradually spreading his sustainable viticulture, eliminating the use of chemicals in the vineyard, worked there. These were the first attempts to produce natural wines, by which Jean Jaques was instantly bewitched. The wines of Domaine Robert-Denogent are the true essence of their terroir and are produced with a sotenible approach. The grapes, placed on soils rich in granite and sand, are exclusively harvested by hand and vinified using classic Burgundian practices and the only use of indigenous yeasts that result in spontaneous fermentation. Malolactic fermentation takes place in second or third passage barriques for up to 18 months on fine lees. Domaine Robert-Denogent is a winery that literally pampers its small plots of land with maniacal respect, due in particular to the presence of over 70-year-old vines that are still perfectly healthy. In addition, following the natural philosophy, grass is planted between the rows so that nutrients, in case of deficiency, can be provided by the herbaceous plants that grow spontaneously. For a few years now, Jean Jaques' sons have also taken part in their father's project: Nicolas, with his reflective character, and Antoine, a smiling boy of solid stature, perfectly manage to keep the production at the highest level, expressing all the complexity, authenticity and intensity of this wonderful terroir.
