This museum sized specimen is what you call a very, very big pretty rock featuring a very nice organic looking composition of the two main minerals most often seen from this classical Spanish deposit, fluorite and calcite that as luck would have it just happen to be of the absolute best quality that you could ever hope to see on any piece coming from La Moscona mine, the fluorite that appears as deep golden yellow cubes is absolutely limpid save the occasional chalcopyrite inclusion, its geometry is sharp as it can be and more remarkably it's faces are completely glassy all throughout the specimen making the whole druse look like a pile of refulgent gems with the smallest bit of light something which could get a bit boring by itself but in this case the calcite that appears as transparent to translucent, lustrous and well formed crystals do balance and add necessary contrast to the piece’s composition and also reinforce the treasure like look that the piece already had as some of the smaller crystals appear as isolated fully transparent dodecahedral prisms that just look like diamonds that some just set on the matryx rather than forming naturally.
Unfortunately this piece as great as it is in quality and size has seen better days as it is quite bruised on its periphery and in some tiny spots in the center I have to also mention that this are more or less visible under certain lights looking the best under natural light and the worst under incandescent but definitely nothing that detracts completely from its looks.
