Bulgarian Hand Painted Icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The icon is in very good condition. The saint is depicted blessing with one hand and holding a gospel in the other. Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker is an Eastern Roman cleric, archbishop of the city of Myra. Known as an opponent of paganism and Arianism. In the iconography of the Eastern Orthodox Church, it is often depicted next to Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. Throughout his life, Nicholas helped the suffering, protected the innocent and strengthened the weak with the word of truth and faith. On both sides of Nicholas, in the upper part of the icon, the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ are visible.
