The back is covered with black lacquer, and hand-carved swirling patterns embellish the tablet. The front engraving reads "Gyokan'in Hōgaku-dai Ekoji, Jōju'in Hōkyō-dai Kaoru Daishi," while the back is inscribed with "Gentleman, 5th day of the 9th month, 6th year of Bunka (1809); Lady, 3rd day of the 6th month, 10th year of Bunsei (1827)." This spirit tablet likely commemorates an upper-class couple. During the Edo period, titles like "Inden-go" (院殿号) became standardized, with discriminatory differences based on ranks. "Inden-go" was reserved for high-ranking individuals, and titles like "Koji" or "Daishi" were not used for lower classes. The highest rank included "Inden-go," which was given only to royalty or high-ranking aristocrats. The tablet shows signs of age, including wear, discoloration, wood chipping, lacquer peeling, and minor scratches. Please refer to the photographs for its condition. Dimension: approx.
