DESCRIPTION Beautiful hand-blown glass vase. Good condition artist: Kyōhei Fujita (1921-2004) was born on April 28, 1921, is a glass craftsman. He studied metal engraving at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts) and graduated in 1944. Later, he shifted his focus to glass craftsmanship and established his unique style by mixing colored glass and gold leaf, creating "kazaribako" (decorative boxes). Fujita's works capture traditional Japanese beauty from a contemporary perspective and have received international acclaim. He has been referred to as the "contemporary Rinpa" and gained recognition worldwide as "Takahira Fujita." Here are some of his notable awards: 1989: Received the Imperial Award, Japan Art Academy Award, and became a member of the Japan Art Academy. 1997: Honored with the Order of the Sacred Treasure (Konjuhōshō) and designated as a Person of Cultural Merit. 2002: Received the Order of Culture, becoming the first glass craftsman to do so.
