MODEL OF QUEEN VICTORIA OF HEREND
Perhaps Herend's most famous design consists of nearly a hundred stylized butterflies and floral fountains, painted in cheerful and bright colors. A combination of red, blue, purple, yellow and green butterflies, flowers and twigs form a cavalcade against the green of the meadow.
The Victoria design was introduced at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851, where it was a huge success. The recognition meant a gold medal for the jury, and a commission for the person who gave the name of the sample. Queen Victoria commissioned table service in the design of Windsor Castle.
