Pierre LECUIRE (1922-2013) and Fermin Aguayo (1926-1977): "IBLIS" [The devil]. Artist book-object of the great French poet, with 3 original buril engravings by Fermín Aguayo, In rigid lined case and with one of the artist's buriles on the front. Unique and very limited edition of only 66 copies (and 11 out-of-trade HC copies) numbered and hand-signed in red ink on the justification page by Lecuire and Aguayo. Unusual format in Italian accordion-leporello with 12 folds of exquisite Papier d' Auvergne du Moulin Richard de Bas . Engravings printed by Georges Leblanc. Text printed in red by Fequet & Baudier. Title of the three original buriles: "homme tombant", "homme s'écrasant" y "oiseau déployé". The poem (inedited), divided into nine columns and spaced, is an unpublished piece and edited especially for this book. Format: 4º, 48 x 12 cm. Along with "Le Livre des Livres" (1974) and "Sonnets funèbres" (1975), "Iblis" is the artist’s third and final collaboration with Pierre Lecuire. Copy in perfect condition, except for a foxing point on the cover (perhaps normal due to the paper used to cover the case). Just extraordinary ... ... "The book presents the poem in exploded typography, in red ink. It unfolds in an accordion of 12 vertical flaps. It can be unfolded completely horizontally as a skyscape, punctuated by isolated letters alternating with the three buriles of Aguayo" (Books of Pierre Lecuire, BNF (National library of France), 2001, repr., No. 60). "The argument of the poem is a" psychomachia "(struggle of the soul) which evokes the story of the fall of man, his crushing, then his flight on the wings of the great Egyptian bird "(Cat . Books by Pierre Lecuire, Musée Jenisch Vevey , p. 20). A great solitary and countercurrent painter, FERMÍN AGUAYO distinguished himself in the late 1940s by his membership in the Portico group of Zaragoza, pioneers of an abstraction then little practiced in Spain. Installed definitively in Paris in 1952, it returns to figuration inaugurating a new look at reality. After 1960, in barely fifteen years, and thanks to arduous work, he got an impressive work based entirely on the space of light...
