A very rare lenticular clay tablet with cuneiform writting. It was used to help scribes learn to write the Sumerian and Akkadian languages using the triangle-like cuneiform (literally, "wedge-shaped") script. To learn a word or sign, the teacher would write the form on the obverse, and the student would then repeat the exercise on the reverse. Such exercises were often completed on tablets that were small and round, easily fitting into the palm of a hand. | Akkadian writting can be seen in one side, the other side is covered with earthen deposits. | 14th-13th Century B.C.
Dimensions: 7,70 x 7,50 cm.
Condition: Surface wear and earthen adhessions. Material losses on the top ( see pictures ). Fine condition
Provenance: Ex J. F. Private Collection since the 1980's - Madrid
Notes:
- Due to United States customs regulations, this lot cannot be sold to customers residing in the United States.
- The piece includes authenticity certificate. The piece includes Spanish Export License ( Passport for European Union)
- If the piece goes outside the European Union a new export license will be requested by us, this process can take beteen 1 and 2 months. According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subject to export taxes and will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense. These export fees are fixed on the final auction price and the tax rate is not applied directly on the total value of the item to be exported, but rather the different percentages by sections are applied to it:
- Up to 6,000 euros: 5%./ From 6.001 to 60.000 euros: 10 %.
