I have dated this object based on inquiries made to an antique dealer and comparisons with similar opium scales on the internet.

Early opium scales hardly have any decoration.
More luxury models were introduced after 1900.
This is one of the older known scales used for weighing opium.
I think the inlay indicating the scale division is made of ivory.
The object is equipped with a copper buckle of which the end is missing.
Length: 34 cm
Widest point: approx. 9.5 cm
The lot will be shipped registered.
Can also be picked up in Delft, the Netherlands.
