Very exclusive 5-sided inlaid "Cave à Liqueur Napoleon III" Boulle style marquetry with red tortoiseshell.
Concave convex-shaped front, brass inlays and entirely hand engraved.
The corner profiles above and below have floral engravings.
With gilded bronze interior on a rosewood base.
Inside unit entirely made of rosewood, in the bottom is a shrinkage crack.
Four decanters and 13 glasses, gold plated.
In the upper lid and hinges stamped "TAHAN paris"
Original key works properly but after ca. 150 years.. the lid shows a slight crack.

Tahan, Jean Pierre Alexandre, born in Paris (1813-1892). Under his leadership, Maison Tahan extended and became one of the most famous houses in Paris. He was one of the fixed ébénistes of Napoleon III and made caskets and nécessaires, like his father, but was particularly specialized in small precious furniture. Tahan competed in the exhibitions of 1849-1867; He won a silver medal in 1849, a second class medal in London in 1852 and the gold medal in 1867.
