Esquivillon & De Choudens was active in Geneva and Paris from around 1765 until 1830. The Genevan watchmaker Jacques De Choudens (1728-1801) founded a company manufacturing high-quality verge pocket watches and early cylinder escapements with the brothers Joseph Esquivillon (1714-1798), Jean François Esquivillon (1) (1733-1813) and Gédéon-François Esquivillon (1717-1799). The watches were mostly signed with Les Frères Esquivillon & De Choudens but also with Esquivillon & De Choudens and Les Frères Esquivillon. Magnificent watch with a very early and rare cylinder escapement from around 1810! Wonderful timepiece in multicoloured gold casing - hallmarked 0.750 (18 kt) on the pedant Fine casing with a beautiful, extraordinary design. Enamel dial with Roman numerals. Baroque, decorated original hands - gold coloured. Very good condition. Signs of wear only during winding. Dial frame with diamond splinters on the casing. The enamel depicts a merry young woman (minor signs of wear on the enamel) - a masterful picture framed by diamond splinters and gold foil set into which are also diamond splinters - berry design. Casing can be opened via a press button with gemstone. Very early rare movement with cylinder escapement. Fine design. Functional - manufactured around 1810.
