A WW1 pocket watch from a pilot who was renowned in the former Germany and then one of the heroes of the German Luft-Waffe during the war, "Theodor Nordman". Nordmann was a Stuka pilot among other things. He arrived at the L.W. on 1st Nov 1937 and started as a scout on 1st December 1938. On 1st Feb 1939 he visited the "Luftkriegschule" and promoted to Lieutenant on 28th Aug 1939 (probably when he received this watch). At the same time he also did the STUKA-Schule. He was involved in attacks on France, in the Mediterranean Sea region, Africa, and against the English fleet in Crete. 1941, First Lieutenant and Captain of the 8th Staffel, where he did his 600th operation. Following that to the test-site Rechling and then again to the front whereby the II. /Stuka squadron 3. Major leaders, in April 1943 1000 were deployed. On the 19th January 1945 he crashed into his colleague and both of them died. He was rewarded the following distinctions: "Riddercruis" (knighthood) (17 Sep 1941), "Eichenlaub" (16 Mar 1943) with swords (17 Sep 1944). This is a Lanco pocket watch with two hinged lids, on the outer lid is an overlaid L.W. eagle on the inside the name Theodor Norman. Diameter excl. crown 53mm. This watch is in good condition, it runs well and holds the time well. The movement is clean and tidy. Very rare piece. Warranty.-
