Tiki art - Special figurine Polynesian carvings with Abalone Shell eyes (Maori culture) - made from prehistoric Kauri Aotearoa wood in Rotorua NZ - Maori culture - New Zealand - second half of 20th century.
The Kauri is New Zealand’s largest tree species and is protected by the Government. The wood used for this figurine comes from enormous trunks, unearthed from former swamps which can be up to 30,000 years old. So no tree has been cut.
Rotorua is a city on the North Island of New Zealand with approximately 55,000 inhabitants and is located in an area with a lot of geothermal activity of volcanic origin.
Dimensions: 35 cm x 10 cm x 7 cm.
Weighs approx. 0.75 kg. It was carved from a single piece of wood and has a beautiful wood texture.
