Elegant barometer made in the United Kingdom around the 1930s by S. B. Shortland Smiths British Instruments, a traditional and respected barometers manufacturer.
The dial is silver-gray with old English style lettering. Pressure readings are provided by a dark thin pointer. A lighter pointer is used to keep track of air pressure changes. Calibrated in inches. To convert in millibars: 29 inch = 982 mbar and 30 inch = 1015 mbar. In fact, when pictures were taken the atmospheric pressure was about 1013 mbar, so the barometer indicated 29.8 inch ca.
The barometer is calibrated and in working order.
