Beautiful craquelure vase with motif Biches Bleues. Design 1925-1930.
This vase is situated in the transitional phase from art nouveau to art deco.
The art nouveau is characterized amongst others in the use of floral and animal motifs; which in turn has its origin in Japanese art.
The World Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels modernes in Paris 1925, is considered the starting shot of the Art Deco.
The vase shows 3 deer that are eating the grass and the trees. Some have described to see gazelles. The contrast between the deep blue of irises with the turquoise blue in the bodies and this with a cream-coloured background feels very natural.
The vase is marked at the bottom with the Boch Keramis stamp, the design brand, as well as number of the shape. D943 - 1271 pressed.
Very attractive vase that fits in any interior.
Condition:
Good. No cracks. Light overpaint noticeable.
