Story about a famous Spanish conquistador "conqueror": Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca (Jerez de la Frontera, 1490 - Sevilla, 1559) - a Spanish explorer. Is known for the epic journey he made between 1527 and 1536 in North America. He took part in the expedition of Pánfilo de Narváez through Florida. He was shipwrecked, and Cabeza de Vaca was one of the few survivors. He washed ashore on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, near Galveston in present-day Texas. Cabeza de Vaca fought to survive. He began a journey through the interior of North America, to return to the Spanish occupation in New Spain. Large groups of Native Americans regularly joined him, they believed he possessed magical powers. Cabeza de Vaca began to feel sympathy for the Native Americans, and at a certain point he hardly knew if he was a Native American or a European.
