Silk cloth with Madonna and child in heaven, painted in bright colours. Behind glass in thin ivory-coloured frame, dimensions approx. 36 x 27 cm. The Chine text says: Hail Mary, Our Lady of China, pray for us. This roman-catholic scene is rare for China, it was painted in the Chinese style by John Lu Hung Nien (1914-1989).
The provenance is mentioned (in Dutch) on the cardboard at the back: “Aandenken aan pater Huijsmans, 35 jaar in China gewerkt. Het is het Chinese Weesgegroet. In 1956 gekregen van hem.”
In very good condition, frame has slight traces of wear.
Will be carefully packaged and shipped with track & trace.
