This is a lovely example of work from Thomas L. Mott, a pair of stunning earrings and a brooch from the Art Deco period. Butterfly wing jewellery was popular from the art deco period up to the 1960s, and it involved using real butterfly wings usually from South American Morhpo butterfly to create rich blue accents or add focal points to jewellery. With these pieces he would have painted on the reverse on the glass cabochon with the outline of a picture, which would have been placed on top of a butterfly wing to create a beautiful scene. Brooch is 2.7cm x 2.15cm Earrings are for pierced ears and are 1.3cm x 13cm round studs Please look at all photos Each piece is stamped T.L.M and sterling, the brooch also has "England" stamped You can see faded bits around the edges and some elsewhere but does not detract from this unique jewellery.
