Wonderful copy of the Hille elephant. It has a warm colour, some crackle, though this just makes it more beautiful, a crackle line on its back/rear (photo 4).
An intact sculpture designed by Chris van der Hoef in 1928. This smaller version of 10.5 cm is made in commission by Hille Zaandam.
The piece was a business gift of Hille & Zn. in Zaandam.
Hille & Zn. celebrated its fifty year anniversary and this sculpture was manufactured by Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland Gouda.
The sculpture is stamped ‘Hille Zaandam 1901-2/6-1951 on the bottom.
