JVC NIVICO 3240 GM Tv Space Videosphere Made by JVC, Yokohama Pianta Victor Co. of Japan VideoSphere Model 3240MU Year: 1970. Cabinet Red perforated cage in the shape of sphere, with flat separate base made from ABS (styrene). The television has some signs of wear (small scratches) due to age and use. It should be carefully re-polished in the hollow recesses (there is some dust present). Torna Controlla antenna connections, AGC, V & H Tenere, Height Left and right control: none Dimensions (W x D x) Orb 11 "ø, base 7½" x 7½ "x 2¾" The JVC VideoSphere was designed in house, presumably between 1969-1970. Ryuzo Fujita is named on the design patent. The unit is spherical, made from ABS plastic, the sphere where the CRT (cathode ray tube) smoked acrylic covers the television serves as an insert visor. The sphere part is 11-1 / 4" in diameter. The base is 7-3 / 8" square measuring 2-53 / 64" height. It is immediately recognised as a space helmet, with the smoked acrylic that covers the TV serving as a visor. JVC was responsible for other futuristic designs, space age around the same time, including the Model 8008 radio.
