In well-functioning condition, the Lucy candlestick was designed by Marcel Wanders for the Dutch designer brand Goods in 1999. It is an elegant candlestick with 5 identical arms that is both classical and modern due to its tranquility and quiet beauty. The first series, such as the candlestick on offer, were in nickel and chrome. Nowadays a matte black version is also available. The Lucy candlestick has since become a design classic and is a good example of industrial design. Background information: Marcel Wanders is one of the most well-known contemporary Dutch designers. He graduated cum laude from the Arnhem School of the Arts after previously having been expelled from the Eindhoven Design Academy. Afterwards, he studied at the Academies in Hasselt, Maastricht and Eindhoven. His designs are characterised by their poetic and conceptual character. Wanders designs and realises ideas and products for various clients with his own design agency, Marcel Wanders Studio. His designs are adventurous, provocative and polarising.
