Mainline History: In 1935, 2 train sets of the type ET 91 (Series BR 491) were built. The mechanical part was built at the "Waggonfabrik Fuchs" in the city of Heidelberg, whilst AEG provided the electrical equipment. The special thing about these train sets was that the occupants had all-round visibility ans also through much of the roof. The structure consisted mainly of glass in a metal frame-work. They were mostly used for special route journeys in southern Germany and Austria. They also took part in the Centenary celebration of the German Railways in 1935. The bombing of Munich on the night of 9th/10th March 1943 ended ET 91 02's short career as it was completely burnt out. The 91 01 survived the war and was quickly deployed again thereafter. In 1968 it was given the Company Number 491 001-4, and continued to serve until 12 December 1995 when was involved in a collision at the Garnisch-Pattenkirchen station, and was badly damaged.
