The Uruli described here has a neo-classical shape with handles on both sides.
These bowls were created in South India as traditional containers to dish up food in temples and holy places.
The round Urli is in used condition with a patina caused by use.
The name Urli comes from the Tamil word "Urulai", which means a round bowl.
Nowadays Urlis/Urulis find use in India as decorative bowls adorned with flowers or sacrificial offerings in front of temples.
