BATIK SARONG JAVA INDONESIA Description Nice old batik sarong from Java. Excellent colour (dark blue and almost black). The design is combination of an Indo-Euopean Kepala with flower composition and a classical Javanese theme featuring the Lar Garuda wing on the Badan. Dye looks organioc to me, but am not 100% sure about that. Technique Not 100% sure. Probabbly a combination of Batik Tulis and Batik Cap. Material strtong cotton Origin Java, Indonesia Date (estimated) 1930s–1950s Size c. 108 x 190 cm Condition Excellent. Stitched along the short sides to create a sarong. Provenance Collected c. 1990 in Java.
