Beautiful vintage spyglass from the 40s of the 20th century. It is an interesting instrument manufactured by the prestigious London firm B.C. & CO. Ltd. The abbreviations B. C. correspond to Broadhurst and Clarkson. The spyglass has four bodies. The largest of all, the one containing the lens, is lined in brown leather. The instrument is made of gold-plated brass, which is kept in very good condition, without traces of rust. It is a 20x spyglass with a 4 cm main lens. It is probably a field or campaign instrument, perhaps a military one. It is accompanied by a leather strap that is used to hang it, something that is not usual in marine spyglasses. On one of the bodies we see the inscription NELSON - 20X - B.C. & CO. LTD. - E.C.I., which indicates the model of the apparatus, the manufacturer's signature and the amount of magnification of the spyglass. Extended, the apparatus measures a total of 505 mm.
