Beautiful solid jewellery box in Neo Gothic style with on the lid a miniature of the Cologne cathedral. The Cologne cathedral is a Gothic cathedral in the centre of the German City of Cologne. It is the largest cathedral in Germany. Construction began on August 15, 1248, and came to a halt in the 15th century. It was not until centuries later, in 1824, that construction was resumed on the basis of the original designs. The cathedral, including its distinctive towers, was finally completed in Neo-Gothic style in 1880. The cathedral is built as a cruciform church and measures (including the nave and the towers) 144.58 meters in length and 86.25 meters in width. The building has a striking interior, including various stained glass windows dating back to the 14th and 16th centuries.
