Wanderer-Werke was a major German manufacturer of bicycles, motorcycles, automobiles, tools and office machinery, founded in 1885 in Chemnitz (Germany). The founders of this factory (Winklhofe and Jaenicke) used the name of Wanderer from the translation of the word Rover, which was the brand that the English John Kemp Starley had given to their bikes.
The CONTINENTAL typewriters, which were manufactured until the Second World War by Wanderer-Werke, were the most prestigious typewriters, sold both in Germany and abroad. Moreover, this factory produced the first Audi cars, the prestigious German brand. In the attached photos, you can see the four rings on the front of the cars that are now the symbol of Audi.
On the back of this typewriter we can see a yellow label that is part of an inventory, which we see begins in 1945 and ends in 1971.
With this typewriter, you’ll be able to write with a glass type keyboard and to listen to the sound of the steel bars when they collide with the ribbon and stamp the symbols on the paper.
