1851 Colt Navy revolver. In the 19th century, Samuel Colt made licensing agreements with Belgian gunsmiths to manufacture and market in Europe revolvers similar to those he manufactured in America. These weapons were manufactured under license with royalty payments... Or not... The one that is for sale has all the characteristics of these weapons: Liège and inspector's hallmark on the cylinder, cylinder engraved with beautiful, fine curving shapes, (the naval combat scenes were not always featured on the European cylinders), barrel grooved at regular intervals. The weapon is in very good, well-preserved working condition, and is completely covered with a beautiful brown patina that it would be a shame to remove with excessive cleaning... it has no visible signs of significant corrosion. The engravings and hallmarks are in excellent condition. This revolver has been maintained/repaired (butt heel). It is likely that it is firing condition after extensive cleaning of the inside of the barrel/cylinder.)
