French Pattern 1855 Infantry Officer's Sword
Very long and clean blade stamped for Manufacture Francaise d'Armes et Cycles de St.Etienne which operated under that name between 1887 and 1911. Very nicely executed hilt with wire intact and horn grip. Initials AR carved on the pommel. Slight movement in the hilt. Matching scabbard with one ring and majority of its original nickle plating. Some of the plating is missing in places where it would have rubbed against saddle. These swords were used by mounted officers and from 1883 onward were attached to the saddle.
