A bit of history: Venice was the first European city where coffee arrived According to some stories, coffee was known in Venice since 1570, but only as a medicine used by doctors and apothecaries. According to some historians, the opening of the first Venetian café dates back to around 1645, when coffee was no longer used only as a medicine, but considered a pleasant drink.
