This is a beautiful small vase designed and signed by Tomas Anagrius in the 1960s. It is an excellent example of his studio earthenware and the mid-century modern pieces. The vase is very striking, with its dark brown neck and glazed black basket weave technique around its base. Tomas Anagrius, ceramist, studied at the art academy in 1956-61, and then at Rörstrand and Gustavsberg. During the 1961-1963 period, Tomas worked at Alingsås Keramik and had his own studio in Alingsås up to 1967. In 1967 the company moved to Kvidinge, where he continued it as Kvidinge Keramik, changing it to "Keramiker Tomas Anagrius" in 1975. Tomas is represented in the National Museum, Nordic Museum in Stockholm, the Röhsska Museum in Göteborg, Kulturen in Lund, in the museums Helsingborgs, Höganäs and Eskilstuna, Rackstamuseet in Arvika.
