Léon de Pas
Originally from Lille from a mother of Bruges, Léon de Pas started sculpure at young age. He learned welding from a scrap dealer in Saint-Paul de Vence, a guy that could create flowers from tin cans.
5.000 art works are to be found in different countries worldwide like Finland, Australia, New-York, London, Copenhagen and a monumental work "la chevauchée européenne" is standing on the Schuman roundabout.
Léon de Pas is the inventor of a curious sculpting technique. It consists literally of juggling with drops of bronze in fusion, to weld them and thus create moving effects as well by their charm as by their power.
He also is the champion of distorted "objets".
A mudguard for a scooter becomes a Venetian gondoletta, bike saddle and handlebars become the body of a bull, a bicycle chain makes a cat miaow ...
And the faces he creates show an intense humanity.
