The Kirin, or Qilin in Chinese, is a mythical creature known in Chinese and other East Asian cultures. Often associated with the arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler, it is considered a symbol of good fortune, prosperity, and serenity. Sometimes likened to the Western unicorn, the Kirin holds a special place in folklore as a harbinger of auspicious events.
