The German Field Honour Badge was founded by a Hamburg Veterans' Association and was issued to veterans who served in the First World War. Like other badges instituted in the Weimar Republic, the German Field Honour Badge was unofficial and veterans were required to purchase their own. Individuals applied to receive the badge by filing an application, which detailed their combat experience in the war. The badge was available for purchase until mid 1934, and approximately 16,000 badges were issued. Three-piece construction, silvered bronze, bronze gilt and white enamels, marked "Deutsches Feld-Ehrenzeichen", "Hamburg 11" and "GES. GESCH." (Gesetzlich Geschützt) on the reverse.
