Let's all reflect for a moment on the"last iBook model" (before it got replaced by the Macbook in 2006). The iBook G4 – even today – looks modern! Because it's using the same design theme's that Apple stock to ever since. We have: – speaker grills; – a trackpad centered at the bottom of the device; – thoughtful port placement. The "Mid-2005" iBook G4 models use the same external housings as the earlier iBook G4 models, but otherwise these systems are quite different. The iBook G4/1.42 has a faster processor, twice the amount and faster RAM, and superior graphics. The iBook G4 also has two Bluetooth 2.0, AirPort Extreme (802.11g) and one Firewire "400" port. The iBook G4 "Mid-2005" models additionally include the "Sudden Motion Sensor" technology that stops the hard drive heads from moving if the notebook is dropped, and the "scrolling Trackpad" that allows one to scroll or pan by touching the trackpad with two fingers instead of one (both borrowed from the PowerBook G4 series). // WHAT TO EXPECT? The iBook is in pretty decent shape. Although – as to be expected – the "white plastic" shows some user scratches. But overall it's in very pretty good shape! The inside is … in just the same nice shape as the outside. Of course I did wipe the whole machine down with alcohol and cleaned it thoroughly. And regarding the battery. Even after 20 years. It actually holds a charge (be aware: not for very long … I tested like one hour of so). Thus. Pluging in … is the best thing to do when using this laptop. // IMPORTANT – WHY BUY FROM ME? (instead of other sellers) I am a Mac user from way back in the Legacy Era. I offer Vintage Apple computers as I would buy them myself. My admiration for Steve Jobs' legacy is so great that I want the Macs I sell, to stand "the test of time". Furthermore I only sell items I have "passion" for. Hardware-wise, all my sold computers are completely disassembled, cleaned – and, if necessary, repaired – in order to extend their lifespan. See pictures. Last-but-not-least. Vintage computers … packed with "lots of software" makes RETROCOMPUTING a lot more interesting. // HARDWARE & SOFTWARE It was Steve's vision to intertwine hardware and software. Retro-computing without software is therefore – in my opinion – "meaningless". Therefore, all my macs are packed with "tons of pre-installed software of yesteryear", ready to use – and to give you a glimp of Apple's history. This 100% working and technically checked “Vintage” bundle comes with “working software”. E.g. Adobe Creative Suite 2 (including the applications: "Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign"), Apple Software (Keynote, Pages, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, etc) – and Office Suite for MAC X (including the applications: "Word, PowerPoint, Excel"). Furthermore: including additional Value Pack (Templates, Fonts, Clip-Arts, etc). All software has already been activated! Normal signs of use and wear. But as an experienced connoisseur I can guarantee that these items are in VERY GOOD condition (always keeping in mind their age). There are some tiny stains and user traces on this machine. The numerous images are part of the meticulous description. Thus: judge yourself! – the computer works as it should (extensively tested!). The speakers sounds heavenly. Even the CD/DVD-player (often broken) works excellent on this iBook. Last-but-not-least. The USB connection are CHECKED too (it works)! – there are NO scratches on the screen (except a very tiny scratch … 2mm), NO dead pixels and the LCD colors are "vivid" (this is often also a common issue). >> IMPORTANT (READ CAREFULLY) … to avoid disappointment However there are some minor issues: – the (internal) speakers aren't working anymore. However the "line-out" works perfectly. You can use headphones or external speakers for "sound/audio". To be honest. The internal speakers aren't sufficient for real audio experience. Therefore "line-out" is the best solution for this model. – some tiny plastic parts are broken. e.g. little rubber on (left) top-screen, battery-holder (back, not visible) and the rubber feet are missing too.
