Exceedingly difficult to find - an original and uncleaned(!) Heart Shield Bible in nice issued condition, not a depot piece. This bible is reasonable and clearly ISSUED condition, i.e. worn. The bible dates from 1943 (see (10)43 on one of the first pages, photo #4). The metal plates were to prevent a bullet from reaching the soldier’s heart (which they did on several occasions. surface of the bible has a great patina and has the text: ''May the lord be with you''.
