In this lot we offer 3 beautiful purple creative kokeshi by Hajime Miyashita. Born in Yonezawa City, Iwate, Miyashita-san studied traditional kokeshi making under Yamagata-Sakunami Master artist Kobayashi Kichitaro. He began his Sosaku career in 1959, winning many awards in his career even the Prime Minister’s Award in 1977. He had his own studio that was located in Maebashi City of Gunma Prefecture. But in 2006 his studio took fire and everything was destroyed. After this disaster Miyashita-san deside to retire. Height: 17cm - 20cm Please look carefully at the pictures to determine the condition of the kokeshi. One has 3 dents on the bottem off the face and a natural crack in the wood.
